Cookie Policy
on the cookies used on the smartsearch.hu website
Smart Search International Kft.
This Cookie Policy provides information on the cookies and similar technologies used on the https://smartsearch.hu website (the Website) operated by Smart Search International Vezetői Tanácsadó és Szolgáltató Kft. (the Operator). The detailed rules on the processing of personal data are set out in the Privacy Notice: https://smartsearch.hu/en/privacy-policy/
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that the Website places on the visitor’s computer, phone or other device (terminal equipment) and that the browser sends back when the Website is opened again. Cookies allow the Website to remember certain settings (such as the cookie consent) and – with consent – to produce visitor statistics.
2. Legal basis for placing cookies
- Strictly necessary cookies: are essential for the operation and security of the Website, so no consent is required to place them (Section 155(4) of the Hungarian Electronic Communications Act; Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest). They cannot be switched off in the cookie banner.
- Statistics cookies: are placed only with the visitor’s prior, explicit consent (Section 155(4) of the Hungarian Electronic Communications Act; Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent).
- Marketing cookies: the Website currently does not use remarketing, advertising or social media tracking cookies.
3. Giving and withdrawing consent
When the Website is first opened, a banner appears in which the visitor can accept or reject statistics cookies, or decide by category using the “Settings” button. Until the visitor decides, and in the case of rejection, no statistics cookie is placed.
Consent can be withdrawn or changed at any time, without giving reasons, by clicking the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of the Website. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. The Website remembers the decision for 365 days and then asks again.
The Website uses Google Consent Mode v2: Google Analytics receives the visitor’s decision and, without consent, does not place cookies or read identifiers from the device. In that case Google only receives cookieless signals without identifiers (such as the fact and time of a page view, browser type), from which individual visitors cannot be identified. If the visitor withdraws a previous consent, the Website deletes the Google Analytics cookies.
4. Cookies used on the Website
4.1. Strictly necessary cookies
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| ss_consent | smartsearch.hu | Stores the cookie consent (accept, reject, custom setting) so that the banner does not reappear on every page | 365 days |
| wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wp-settings-*, wordpress_test_cookie | smartsearch.hu (WordPress) | Identifies the logged-in editor and keeps interface settings (affects administrators only) | Session, or up to 1 year |
4.2. Statistics cookies (with consent only)
To measure visits, the Website uses Google Analytics 4, enabled via the Google Site Kit plugin. The purpose is to understand which pages and content interest visitors, where they come from and which devices they use. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. The Operator only sees aggregated statistics and does not identify individual visitors.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics 4) | Distinguishes visitors with a randomly generated identifier to produce visitor statistics | 2 years |
| _ga_<id> | Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics 4) | Keeps the session state (page views, visit duration) | 2 years |
4.3. External resources
The Website loads its fonts from its own hosting and uses no external provider for this. The Contacts page shows an embedded Google Maps map provided by Google Ireland Limited; when the map loads, the visitor’s IP address and browser data are transmitted to Google. E-mail links open the visitor’s own e-mail client and transmit no data unless clicked.
5. Third-party providers and data transfers
| Provider | Google Ireland Limited |
|---|---|
| Registered office | Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland |
| Service | Google Analytics 4 (visitor measurement), Google Maps |
| Privacy policy | https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en |
| Transfer to third countries | To Google LLC (USA) under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC has self-certified |
Information on how Google Analytics works and on a further way to opt out (browser add-on) is available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en
6. Managing cookies in the browser
Cookies can also be deleted or blocked in the browser settings. The method differs by browser:
- Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=en
- Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cookies-information-websites-store-on-your-computer
- Apple Safari: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/sfri11471/mac
- Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge
If strictly necessary cookies are blocked, some functions of the Website may not work properly.
7. Remedies and contact
Questions about cookies can be sent to agabor@smartsearch.hu. Details of data subject rights and remedies (NAIH, court) are set out in the Privacy Notice: https://smartsearch.hu/en/privacy-policy/
8. Changes to this policy
The Operator amends this Cookie Policy when a new cookie or service is introduced or the law changes; amendments are published on the Website, and where a new cookie requiring consent is introduced, the visitor is asked for consent again.
Effective from 1 October 2026 until revoked.
